What is Band Protocol (BAND)

Band Protocol is a platform that provides Cross-Chain Data Oracle service, which acts as a medium to bring off-chain data to on-chain like a bridge that connects data from world to data on blockchain safely with high transparency.

Band Protocol Founder

Band Protocol co-founder include Soravis Srinawakoon, Paul Chonpimai and Sorawit Suriyakarn

• Soravis Srinawakoon as CEO, graduate bachelor degree major in computer engineering and master degree from Stanford University.
• Paul Chonpimai as CPO, once a web developer of Tripadvisor
• Sorawit Suriyakarn  as CTO, experience as software engineer for Dropbox and Quora

Why Band Protocol

Band Protocol is a cross-chain data oracle platform that is able to connect the real world data with on-chain application, providing the accurate and secure data that users can recheck the data before allowing them to the Decentralized Applications.

Band Protocol is designed to be fast, secure, and more efficient compared to other oracle solutions while ensuring the data can be provided to and from multiple different blockchains.

In the beginning, Band Protocol launched on the ERC-20 network but due to a number of limitations, protocol transitioned to the Cosmos network which was built on BandChain using the Cosmos SDK.

BAND Utility

BAND is native coin of Band Protocol with the main usage as the fee on the platform. Band holders also have the access for the more in-depth data from the platform and by staking the token, users have the right to vote the direction of platform development as well.

Roadmap and future of Band Protocol

Oracle is essential for blockchain data management and Band Protocol is one of the oracle providers, making the protocol essential for the industry as well. As of now there are a number of partners with Band Protocol including Harmony, Manta DAO, Oasis, etc. Late in 2024, Band Protocol had announced partnerships with XRP Ledger as the Oracle provider for XRPL Mainnet and EVM Side-chain.
