What is Decentraland (MANA)

Decentraland is a virtual reality platform run on Ethereum blockchain, combining the on-line game with blockchain technology, to create more engaging platforms. Users can own Land, NFT real estate on the platform, and other assets by paying with MANA token.

Founder

Ariel Meilich and Esteban Ordano are the founders of Decentraland. Ariel is the project leader and he founded a number of Startup companies. Esteban is a well known veteran in the cryptocurrency industry. 

Both founders have already stepped down from being the project leader, but still help develop the platform as advisors.

Why Decentraland

Same concept as online games, users can create and customize their own avatar, this includes the cloth and accessory on avatar. Users then can use the avatar for various activities including investing on Land, real estate NFT on Decentraland, and other in-game assets through Decentraland Marketplace.

Transaction on Decentraland is via Smart contract, which makes all transaction data on the platform, including fee, buy and sell of assets such as Land, etc., safe on blockchain.

MANA Utility

MANA is native currency on Decentraland that runs on ERC-20. Users can use MANA to trade for in-game LAND and NFT from Decentraland Marketplace.

Also MANA holders gain the privilege to vote on the policy or development of Decentraland.
